It was founded back in 1979 by two former employees of Radio Shack, namely, Bill Bayne and John Baker with an investment of $35,000. Is headquarters in Hilliard, Ohio. The first location where they opened a store was in the Upper Arlington’s Lane Avenue Shopping Centre. It was located in close proximity to two places that provided them with a large customer base. The Battelle Memorial Institute scientific think-tank and the Ohio State University were near this store which provided to them an abundance of people who were computer literate, thus boosting their sale. Their goal in the first year was to make a grand total of $30 million in sales. They achieved $29.9 million. 2009 revealed to their customers an “18-minute pickup” service using which the customers could pick up from their store whatever merchandise they had ordered on their website. The year 2018 sees 25 Micro Centre stores in 16 states across the nation including New York, California and Massachusetts. Micro Electronics. Inc., a corporation that is privately held is what Micro Centre is a subsidiary of. Now their stores, which was once sized 900 sq ft has increased to 60,000 sq ft. They are known to have a massive stock of over 36,000 products across around 700 categories. Their products include major brand names and their own brands as well. As of a survey conducted in the year of 2015, Micro Centre brings in a revenue of $2.4 billion.
